Job title: Tutor – Tailoring and Garment Cutting

Summary:

We are seeking for a skilled and passionate Tailoring and Garment Cutting Tutor with a diploma qualification in Tailoring and Garment Cutting from a recognised institution. The ideal candidate will possess significant industry experience and expertise in various tailoring and Garment Cutting techniques. The Tailoring and Garment Cutting Tutor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and practical lessons, guiding students, and creating a dynamic learning environment within the field of tailoring and Garment Cutting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and hands-on demonstrations aligned with industry standards and trends in tailoring and Garment Cutting.
  2. Instruction: Conduct practical workshops, and demonstrations covering tailoring, and other tailoring and Garment Cutting techniques.
  3. Practical Training: Provide hands-on training and guidance to trainees in workshop settings, fostering their skills and creativity in tailoring and Garment Cutting.
  4. Mentorship: Offer constructive feedback, mentorship, and support to trainees, guiding them in developing their skills and professional ethics.
  5. Material Knowledge: Instruct trainees on material usage, application of various tailoring and Garment Cutting tools and equipment.
  6. Safety and Hygiene: Teach and ensure adherence to safety protocols, hygiene practices, and sanitation standards in a tailoring workshop environment.
  7. Industry Relevance: Stay updated with current trends, techniques, and innovations in the tailoring and Garment Cutting industry, integrating relevant information into the curriculum.
  8. Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate trainee performance through practical assessments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  9. Administrative Tasks: Assist in administrative duties such as maintaining records, tracking attendance, and participating in curriculum planning meetings.
  10. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on industry advancements.

Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in Tailoring and Garment Cutting from a recognized Institution.
  2. Extensive experience working as a fashion stylist or in the tailoring and Garment Cutting  industry, demonstrating proficiency in various cutting, styling, and sewing techniques.
  3. Previous teaching or training experience in tailoring and garment cutting.
  4. In-depth knowledge of material, tools, equipment, and their applications within the industry.
  5. Strong communication skills to effectively convey information, demonstrate techniques, and engage with trainees and other staff members.
  6. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
  7. Passion for education and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of tailors.
  8. Fluency in the Local Language (Luganda) and English is A MUST
